Canada vs. Qatar odds: Best bets to score
Canada plays their second match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 versus Qatar today at 6:00 p.m. ET in Vancouver. Les Rouges may not be in a must-win quite situation yet, but in a group with two 1-1 draws to start, a victory would likely cement their place in the Round of 32.
Manager Jesse Marsch said Wednesday that captain Alphonso Davies and centre-back Moise Bombito will be available against Qatar if needed, strengthening the Canada bench and adding more swagger to the touchline.

“He’s been in training this week and he’ll be available tomorrow,” Marsch said of Davies Wednesday evening. “We’ll see how the match goes and then make a decision on how we choose to use him.
“It’s just a matter of what kind of game is it, what kind of moment is it and how do we feel Alphonso can contribute right now. But he’s ready. He’ll be available”
Matchday 1 results
Qatar pulled off a shocker against Switzerland. The Swiss outpossessed them 58% to 28% and had an xG of 3.20 to Qatar’s 0.60. That included a whopping 20 more attempts at goal. A 1-1 draw on an own goal was hard luck for the Group B favourites.
Canada’s 1-1 match with Bosnia and Herzegovina was similar, although not as lopsided. They did outposess “The Dragons” by a wide margin (52% to 29%), beat them in every offensive metric and were significantly more dangerous in the second half. But they failed to turn possession into dangerous chances, leading to an xG advantage of just 1.23 to 0.96.

The 55th-ranked Qataris are clear underdogs to No. 30 Canada, but the home side must begin converting chances more regularly. Earning their first World Cup point on home soil was a nice storyline last week; scoring more than once in a tournament match for the first time would top that.

Canada vs. Qatar history
The two sides don’t have a long history, but they do have recent history. Canada beat Qatar 2-0 in September 2022 friendly in Vienna. Both rosters have holdovers from that match to this meeting in World Cup 2026, including Larin and David, who scored Canada’s goals.
Will that translate to a similar success story for Canada this time around? We’ll find out tonight.
