The season starts with a bang with the Super Bowl rematch, then the focus shifts to a division rivalry being played Down Under. The rest of the teams will play on Sunday, followed by an age-old rivalry closing out Week 1 on Monday Night Football. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some of the key matchups to watch for in NFL Week 1 for Canadian bettors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks -3.5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The NFL season opens with a rematch of Super Bowl LX as the Seattle Seahawks host the New England Patriots on September 9 at Lumen Field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both teams will enter Week 1 with multiple changes from when they met seven months ago. The New England Patriots added star wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles in an offseason trade. Brown replaces Stefon Diggs, who signed with the Washington Commanders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the defending champs, the biggest hole to fill will be in the backfield where Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. His previous backup Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL last season, which means the Seahawks are handing the keys to rookie Jadarian Price. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seattle\u2019s dominant defence also took some hits this offseason, losing plenty of talent to free agency. Can the Seahawks overcome the gaps in their roster? Will New England exact revenge for their poor Super Bowl showing? This is the perfect game to kick off the 2026-2027 season, and will no doubt be heavily bet at Canadian sportsbooks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams -3.5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 49ers and Rams meet on September 10 in the second game of the regular season, with the matchup taking place in Melbourne, Australia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Much has been made about how the teams are travelling Down Under. San Francisco left on Wednesday, allowing their players to acclimate to the time change for the next week. Los Angeles will be flying out to Australia the day before the game, and then flying back stateside when it is over. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Either way, the betting markets are currently favouring the Rams by more than a field goal, and for good reason. Los Angeles traded for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett, who also convinced future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald to come out of retirement. There is a bit of a dark cloud hanging over the team with a potential suspension to Puka Nacua, but all signs point to him playing in Week 1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Francisco feels like the forgotten team in the NFC West Division this year. The good news is that both George Kittle and Nick Bosa made the trip to Australia with plans to play in Week 1. The 49ers are deserved underdogs in this game, but don\u2019t forget how well Kyle Shanahan has played close friend Sean McVay over the years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans +1.5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of Sunday’s biggest matchups sees the Buffalo Bills travel to Houston to face the Texans in a massive AFC clash. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buffalo will enter a new era without head coach Sean McDermott for the first time in nine seasons; the Bills will be led by former Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be a clash between one of the league\u2019s top offences and one of the league\u2019s best defences. A team with Josh Allen under center will likely always be favoured, and Buffalo opens up as a small road favourite. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs -2.5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Week 1 concludes with an AFC West matchup as the Denver Broncos visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest question mark ahead of Week 1 is whether quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be able to suit up. Mahomes has practiced throughout training camp and even got some time in during some preseason games. All signs are pointing to Mahomes playing in Week 1, making it a near-miraculous recovery after tearing his ACL in mid-December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Broncos will be looking to claim the AFC West division title for the second consecutive season. Denver added star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins and returned their stalwart defence. With Mahomes limited in his mobility, the Broncos will be throwing everything, including the kitchen sink, at this Kansas City offensive line during Monday\u2019s matchup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
